We were in a group of five adults and two children. Three of the adults saw it and described the same thing immediately after.
I'm not completely sure of the time but it was early twilight. It was still light but the moon had begun to glow.
I initially thought it was Starlink but immediately discounted this when I saw that the separate parts of it dipped like falling objects and varied in apparent magnitude. They were also in a different part of the sky and travelling in a different direction from my previous observations of Starlink.

Remarks
At the end it appeared to split into several parts, perhaps five. They dipped and slowed as they stopped glowing.
