I was running a load machine during the event. I reported the event 15 seconds after sighting to a fellow Geologist by cell phone call at 11:17 am. He was 1 mile away and did not see or hear anything. We agreed that the color was odd and I relayed that the 5 pieces that appeared as the same brightness of typical daytime red fireworks stopped glowing why still in the sky with appearance of landing nearby.

I saw 5 very closely spaced red streaks approach from northeast coming to ground with the red light disappearing about 1500 feet above the treeline
