| Remarks | I've probably witnessed over 100 shooting stars in my life that made a tiny streak across the sky and were often associated with a forecast meteor shower. All have been visible for about a second or less. Yesterday, I saw the one I am reporting here and it was truly an amazing experience. To see the sky suddenly start to glow above my tent just after I laid down for the night and then to sit up and watch the fireball streak across the sky and slowly spread out while giving off a bright bluish/white light was incredible. I so would have loved to have that on video, but it's burned into my mind now. |

| Remarks | Approximately 30 seconds after witnessing the meteor in the sky, I heard a couple of low deep rumbles back to back that lasted about 3 seconds. They were quiet and very low tone, but I wondered if it was a delayed sonic boom from very far away. |

| Remarks | I was laying in a tent without a rain fly and watching through the bug netting and some moderate tree cover with only a bit of ambient moon light in the atmosphere as the moon was obstructed by a nearby cliff. I saw the sky start to light up over about half of a second to when it reached peak brightness. I watched it as it streaked across the sky through the gaps in the tree canopy and about half way across the path it appeared to start to spread out only slightly and was still glowing brightly when it went behind the cliff that obstructed my view. Sooo cool! |
