I've seen shooting stars and this was larger and brighter than anything before. It took place while it was starting to get dark so it was bright enough to see in a still lightly lit sky.

It caught my eye because it was so bright. I thought it could have been a firework but the trajectory looked off for a firework and then I saw it break up into two to three pieces which all quickly extinguished.
