Reports Report 643r (Event 643-2024)

Observer
Name Martha L
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I was on the third floor of this apartment building, looking out a wide window. I wasn’t outside on the ground, nevertheless the angle from the horizon (for first sighting) is still accurate with terms such as “slightly less than halfway up” because I was placing the sighting between the completely horizontal and the completely vertical. My distance from the window did of course influence when in its trajectory I first saw this thing. I’ve heard no reports of crashes at the CLT airport and that’s how I found this site.

Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks It was not a huge explosion per se. But like the head of the thing expanded and broke up with just a bit of a yellow spark look about it. No red colors involved. (I was facing the direction of CLT airport: I made a mental note that I did not see a fiery explosion.)
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks It was as if a more compact head began breaking apart slightly. Not like an expansive firework show: more like a boulder beginning to break to bits.
