Reports Report 7898a (Event 7898-2023)

Observer
Name Daniel F
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks This was a fireball where the head was a yellowy green more green and yellow. I saw it towards my left initially out of my peripheral vision. As I turn my head left upon noticing something in my peripheral vision I saw it persist for about a half a second approximately. It was fantastic to see an unlike anything I had seen before in that the head was large clearly green and the tail appeared to have sort of orange Sparks sort of like misch metal or some sort of sparking metal. It was oriented down towards the Earth the entire time and did not last long. I cannot really say exactly what angle what I gave were just approximate that's the best I can do it was quick and beautiful with definitely a green head and lasting longer than a split second but not quite a second so I'm estimating a half second long enough to be certain I saw it. The geminids were putting on a fantastic show that night I saw maybe a hundred over the few hours I spent between 1:30 and 4:00 a.m. on site. This was the only obvious colorful one I saw. I used to go see every single meteor shower including minor ones in this area for many years and am quite experienced at watching meteor showers.
