Remarks | It was bright, appeared suddenly pretty much directly in front of me, and moved almost straight down with a very slight left to right angle and only lasted about 4 seconds, when it suddenly disappeared. It’s a clear night here, very few cirrus-type clouds, and a fair number of stars visible for our urban area. It was the lowest in the sky and the brightest meteor I have seen in recent memory, just right in front of me as I drove along Willow Drive toward Highway 35. I wondered quickly if I would see an explosion, and I thought I saw a pale glow on the horizon after it disappeared, but it am not sure of that— it may have been the power of suggestion. It was not a bright glow and it only lasted a moment. What a fun meteor view!! |
