Had observed the ISS moving in the sky earlier in the night and tracked it with Stellarium. That's why my attention was to the west. I've seen shooting stars only a few times prior. This observance was the fasting moving object and at a brightness greater than Venus (or recent Jupiter) that I've seen cross the sky.
