I was traveling west bound on I-70 just east of Indianapolis. I was between the Keystone exit and the exit to I-65. I first saw the meteor through my windshield, and it disappeared when I was looking over my left shoulder (I was driving with my convertible top down).

Remarks
I thought initially that it was a plane trailing flames, but then I realized that it was probably a meteor. I've never seen one this "close". I saw it break into three parts. All three pieces continued to trail flame. The rear two "flamed out" almost immediately. The remaining piece went on a second or two longer before disappearing in a small flash.
