Reports Report 1714b (Event 1714-2023)

Observer
Name Vicki B
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks It was just so unusual to me, especially the incredibly bright flash of green light to begin with. I wasn’t even looking directly at the sky when it first flashed and I was confused for a moment, because like I said, it was like lightning bright but my brain knew there were no clouds, just clear, starry sky. So I quickly looked up and saw this unique (to me) occurrence. Also, the fact that it looked like it exploded first then propelled almost straight from left to right across the sky with a thick powder/particle trail of green and white that didn’t really taper but just kind of abruptly stopped/disappeared was so unusual to me. It was amazing to see, whatever it was.

Remarks Incredibly bright green flash like lightning, I blinked and could still see the flash, it was so bright!. Then what looked like a thick, short explosion puff followed by a short trail of green fading to white. It started thicker and slightly tapered then disappeared. I’ve never seen anything like it before.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks It looked like a short explosion, like a puff of debris in green and white that then propelled a very short distance toward north before disappearing.
