Observer
Name Margaret L
Experience Level 2/5
Remarks I was going back to work from my lunch break in evening about 845pm Sunday and as I stood up out of the car i happen to look at the sky shutting my door and noticed a shooting star. I stared for a second and was watching it and it turned yellow. I thought that was strange because when Ive seen past shooting stars they were white and very fast and gone in 3 seconds. This changed color and was a little slower and then got bright orange looking like it was on fire all of a sudden, an as it kept traveling across it started to break pieces off that were glowing and then exploded and turned very bright green then purple and disappeared. I was thinking where did it go.? I thought that had to be a meteor because of its makeup as it travels it can change colors then burns out. It was a beautiful experience and is my first time seeing a meteor. To just catch that at the second i happen to look up at the sky getting out of my car and standing there was a once in a lifetime opportunity ill never forget and can be crossed off my bucket list. Nature is so awesome! When i got inside my hospital,( I'm a nurse), i told the other nurses and Docs, "I don't know what I just saw outside but i think it was a meteor." They googles pics and i recognized what I saw on there and it was just like the pics. Looked like a star that traveled then exploded. That bright green was like a fluorescent green then beautiful purple. There was no noise, i waited to hear, but there was none. Also no smoke. It was quiet just traveled by changed colors and exploded with fragments and disappeared. I was in my hospital parking lot as i saw this come out of the clouds midway and end up traveling over some apartments across the street where it burned out. This all lasted about 10,12 seconds.
