Remarks |
Walking a quiet street with very little noise and clear skies. Came from behind rooftops (south), moved toward the north at approx 90 degrees to the direction I was walking (west), very shallow angle (almost horizontal). Hard to judge horizon due to housing and being at the top of a hill, but was lower and bigger than anything I've previously seen. No noise. Brightness decreasing from the moment I saw it until it fizzled out. Bright white, tail edges became a little yellow as it faded. Cannot confirm break up, but it did flicker before fading from view. Cranfield airport is close by, but landing aircraft fly west-east or turn on approach. They don't seem to have many night flights either. The absence of noise and other navigation lights pretty much rules out an aircraft. |
