Remarks | After coming in from a sailing race last night, my crew members and I observed a huge meteor moving horizontally very low through the sky out over the Atlantic... It was around 8:50-9:00 pm and it was lower and faster than the planes coming into Logan. It was a vivid blue meteor with sparks coming off the front and a long green/blue tail, it lasted nearly 15 sec. and then it finally burned out as it headed north toward Nova Scotia... It was absolutely beautiful! It was moving perfectly parallel with the ocean at a speed easily track-able and observable with the naked eye. This was a meteor unlike any I have seen. It was not you typical lay on your back in a field and watch the sky for those millisec. streaks... I'm going to remember this one. |
