It was a fleeting experience: it seemed like a very large firework very close by (our house is in an elevated position) and it appeared to pass fairly low - by the time I had wondered what on earth it was and moved to a balcony facing the direction the object had travelled, it had moved into cloud but was still faintly visible in the distant cloud to the West before disappearing.
