Remarks I watched it for about 5 second; I couldn't believe what I was seeing! It had a bright orange tail on a burning sphere. It was moving from the North-West towards the South. The tail looked to be about 3-4 inches long from my perspective. I thought that I heard a whooshing sound, but it could've been my imagination. Then I got scared thinking that it was going to impact the earth so I ran inside to wake up my husband since it looked large and I imagined a very bad seismic shock would result. The burning tail was gone by the time I went back outside. But it was still a very small red sphere at that point. My heart was beating so strongly I couldn't tell if the noise was coming from me or not. It was pretty scary. Hey, I am chemist, not an astronomer. We like small things, not sky-filling things.
