Fortunately I witnessed the journey of this asteroid from start to finish. I was initially surprised to see a large bright light which I initially mistook for a star. Then I realised it was not fixed in the sky and it had began travelling above me. It was at first a pulsating shard moving at great speed. I followed the trajectory of the object over my garden and before it passed out of sight it exploded into a halo of sparkling fragments.

Remarks
A large bright sparkling fiework effect dissipating out from its trajectory as it dropped towards the horizon. Could be mistaken for an exploding air craft.
