| Remarks | I was outside for a cigarette when a light moving left to right, just above the horizon, caught my attention. I thought it a plane at first but its radial speed was too great. As I focussed in on it, it vanished with sparks. I listened for any noise but heard none. At a guess I would say its trajectory would have it land near Bedford area had it not vanished. I have seen meteors before, but they have always been at near vertical angles and v thin lines of light at great height. This was very fast compared to planes (I see planes from stanstead and the american airbases in Norfolk, fly past at night. I saw no colour indicative of its metallic composition ( I am an 'ex' industrial chemist familiar with emission colours of metals) |
