The fireball that I observed clearly out of my bedroom window disappeared from my view when it got to the top of a steep ridge that blocks my vision of the horizon. It appeared to waver slightly just before I lost sight of it. To my amateur eye, the event seemed to end with possible landfall at the top of the ridge. I have seen many meteors during my casual observations of scheduled showers and chance encounters but never have I seen anything as spectacularly close and vividly bright as the event I just witnessed.
