It burned out and reignited about three times that I could see, as it moved across the sky roughly from NW toward the SE.

There was clearly fire trailing behind it and it burned out several times and then appeared again at full fire. When it burned out it appeared as if it was exhausting fuel or something- it wasn’t instantaneous.
