| Remarks | This may have been part of the Lyrid peak tonight though it was early and Lyrid was not much above the horizon and would have been behind us. We were out at the beach on the Sound looking for meteors but saw nothing until this fireball amazed us while driving back toward NYC. The initial burst was not as big in size as a dime, perspective-wise. It flew above us coming from the east behind us, vertically rather than horiontal, heading to the left a bit, before it exploded about 3 times and the whole trail disappeared after a few seconds. Stunning! |

| Remarks | The fireball's glowing train had at least 3 "pops" as it exploded and the train lasted a few seconds before disappearing. The train was about 5 inches long in perspective seen from a moving car's windshield going from up to down at a left/southwest direction. Stunning. |
