It was glowing with a very long light blue-green tail. The smoke trail was a whitish grey. I was driving so it is hard to saw how long it lasted for because it flew over the island of Manhattan heading west so it was still burning when it went out of sight and I continued driving southbound on FDR drive.

During the brief encounter, it flashed brightly a few times with small fragmentation that disappeared quickly. The main part kept going at a fairly flat angle directly over Manhattan.
