It appeared out of the right side of my peripheral vision and left a glowing line behind it. As it travelled across my field of vision it appeared to change size and brightness several times with what appeared to be tiny pieces coming off it. It travelled from just north of west across the sky to disappear behind the clouds at the horizon just south of east. Very bright and lasted approx 10 seconds from left to right - much slower than a normal "shhotong star" . I did call a local astronomer afterwards, as soon as I could find his number - Terence Dickinson...did not know who to call or report it to. I feel privileged to have seen it and wonder who else here in Canada saw it.
