I saw it from inside car coming home from store. Receipt helped ascertain time. Sister was driving. I saw it thru drivers side window and yelled OMG LOOK and she stopped car and turned and looked and she saw it too. (she was driving very slowly, no more than 5mph.). I had to twist my head around to watch it but being inside car had limited sight. I saw it as bright white that sputtered a couple of times without diminishing brightness (on/off, mostly on, no persistent trail), sister saw it as greenish. We see planes all the time, this was much brighter but appeared to be at similar elevation, as if it was coming from JFK airport, just over the trees, going in southeasterly direction. I told her right away it was a meteor, then heard about it on the news. My experience is just as a casual observer but i've seen meteors before but not this big. I'm always looking up. Way cool! |
