Remarks I have previously seen small meteors when staying in the Scottish Highlands in August but these were small star sized dots (higher) shooting in 1 second, (blink and its gone) and also in a very dark sky. However yesterday, in my own garden in Merton, London, it was barely dark and there is always some light pollution. I was in my deckchair not looking for anything really and caught a glimpse of light travelling from the opposite direction from the flight route. But at first it seemed to be at plane height. In any case it was definitely a lot lower and slower than the "shooting stars" that I saw before. Finally it arched down and as it descended lower it grew larger before becoming a bit paler and mottled in the centre. I've never seen anything myself like it before.
