It was a clear night with no or little cloud. The tail of the meteor was quite long, about a hand's width. The whole sighting was about 5 seconds during which the tail lasted for about 3- 3.5 seconds. The meteor disappeared when about 40' in elevation. I did not see any other objects. The sighting was slightly west of normal flight paths for the approach to Glasgow Airport however I did not see any flight activity

There were bright yellow sparks coming from the head of the meteor as it passed overhead and until its tail stopped being produced. It continued as a yellow ball then disappeared.
