Remarks | The most amazing thing to me was how the night was lighted up from this fireball, and that the light of it attracted my attention even though I was not looking at the sky. I was looking at the ground because the road was icy and I was walking carefully in the dark. My peripheral vision was obscured by a hat, but that did not keep the light of this fireball from prompting me to look up to find out what was lighting up the sky from above me. |

Remarks | I was not looking at the sky while walking down County Rd 612 just west of Sherman Rd, but with my peripheral vision I sensed something bright above me even though everything else was dark. When I looked up, I could see the large streak pattern of the fireball which filled 1/4 to 1/3 of the sky. I've never seen anything like it before in my entire life (and I'm 57). The terminus was quite large, yellow, and oblong with several smaller fragments towards the end of the fireball. In terms of size, the fireball appeared to be about 1/6 to 1/5 the size of the full moon squished into that ovoid shape of the fireball. |
