Reports Report 1609dj (Event 1609-2021)

Remarks There are contrails visible in the video as well and this event did not resemble those at all. My impression at the time was it looked like a ricochet - like something large grazed the atmosphere. It was impossible to tell how far away it was. I don't think there was any delayed sound, but the panoply of coyotes, dogs, roosters, planes, and the occasional full sized pickup trying to get up the hilly road behind me may have masked it.

Remarks The object appeared small at first, created a gigantic plume then seemed to separate from the leading edge of the plume, pull out ahead of it and continue out of sight. Th plume then drifted and faded. I was shooting a Milky Way time lapse at the time and that is the video I uploaded. The video is 24fps and each frame was a 15 second exposure.
