I've seen 4 of these events in my life time (one of which was red, which was unusual) but this was probably the brightest and most spectacular of them all.

The meteor broke up into lots of golden spark like fragments that continued along the trajectory before fading away a second or so after. The event was bright enough to catch my eye from the living room of my home.
