| Remarks | I was on the beach over the dunes (to block the street lights) to watch the Cygnus rocket launch. I had been out there for at least 30 minutes. I saw something bright out of my periphery, looked up and saw a "shooting star" with a good light trail, looked back at the rocket, looked back up and it was still there. It may have gotten slightly brighter before it disappeared. The anomaly was almost directly overhead (when standing) the entire time. While I am a casual observer, I do have an in depth understanding of the mechanics of meteor showers, fireballs, luminosity, etc. as I minored in Applied Physics during my undergrad studies. |
