The sky lit up and I immediately thought it was a bolide. I used to work at Chabot Space & Science in Oakland, but do not consider myself an astronomy expert.

The last second I saw at least 6 smaller pieces trailing behind the primary rock's wake, which might have been 10 or 15 degrees in width. It looked like it broke up. I think I saw a smoke trail for a short bit. I was driving at the time with my windows closed.
