Reports Report 5441il (Event 5441-2020)

Observer
Name Buddy R
Experience Level 1/5
Remarks This was a wonderful experience and I was positioned exactly correctly in order to witness it. Too bad I didn't have a video. It looked big, but it might have just been something small that was immediately in my field of vision...or maybe a satellite or a piece of scrap metal debris re-entering the atmosphere. I was expecting a sound like thunder. This was BRIGHT and it was remarkable in how much it resembled a comet when it entered the atmosphere. ( Years ago, I 'witnessed' a significant bollide impact with our atmosphere, but it was during the daylight. There was no visible flash, but the explosion reverberated for many seconds. )

Remarks I was walking up Kinnear Alley (East) towards North High Street. I was looking up and there was a bright, white flash in the dark sky. It instantly turned into a comet-like bollide with a significant tail, then became a fireball. The fireball turned bright blue as it froze in the sky, then began to fade after a few seconds. Both the head and tail continued to remain visible for awhile, fading into a light yellow-grey before disappearing. There was no sound.
