Reports Report 2263j (Event 2263-2012)

Observer
Name Sherry B
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I have only seen a couple of meteor showers in my life. This object seemed to be much closer to earth. I have no doubt it was space debris, either a meteorite or a falling satellite or something similar. It was awesome!!!!! I immediately called my husband and we joked about the 'end of the world' since it happened on Dec 21, 2012. If you have any information on this sighting from others, I would dearly like to hear it.

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 1s
Length
Remarks Didn't look like smoke, more like a glow. It all happened so fast I didn't see any change to the train from the first moment I saw it until everything disappeared.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks Small bright white light followed by glowing fragments expanding randomly out from the center and behind the explosion.
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks Glowing fragments expanding randomly out from the center and behind the explosion of light. I could compare it to a firework that had no pattern. The fragments did not travel far and disappeared within a split second. The tail disappeared very shortly thereafter.
