Reports Report 4493u (Event 4493-2020)

Observer
Name jeff w
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks one of the most amazing experiences of my life. i tracked the meteor as it entered my field of view from the south all the way overhead and behind me as it headed towards Mt Rainier (I was in the parking lot of the visitor center). As it got brighter (and wider) it briefly lit up the whole sky above a grayish cloudy hue, with a tinge of green, just before fragmenting into a bunch of green sparks arching away from the original path, like a firework.

Observation Yes
Remarks the meteor entered my field of vision from the south as a normal bright shooting star, except it kept going instead of fading. I tracked it overhead and it got brighter and wider until it was so bright it briefly lit up the entire sky above a grayish green hue, like an overcast day, before fragmenting into green sparks like a firework, the fragmented parts tracing arched paths. It was so big and bright before it fragmented that I thought it might actually hit the mountain (it was headed straight for Mt Rainier; I was in the parking lot at the visitor center at Paradise).
