I was actually watching a plane flying by in the distance when the first appearance of the fireball was just slightly down to the left of the location of the plane. I saw it clearly from start to finish.

It flashed about 3 times as I watched. It was already bright, but the flashes were very bright. No fragmentation that I noticed.
