After seeing many 'shooting stars' / meteor showers on countless nights observing I have never seen anything like this. A very bright light that i observed for about 5 seconds even being able to tell my wife who was observing the new crescent moon through our 8" telescope who had time to look up and also observe the 'fireball' split into two distinct smaller fireballs before disappearing .
