Reports Report 2539v (Event 2539-2020)

Observer
Name Steve A
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks For something that large to have very little sound relative to size was interesting. Object was the size of a car, possibly bigger. Speed of object was slower than the speed that I have previously seen smaller meteors at a higher altitude. I had assumed that larger objects would be faster than smaller ones, especially coming in at that angle. There was no zip across the sky. It was more gradual than that. Just before burnout I saw 3 cones of fire, rotating counterclockwise behind it. 2-3 rotations. About 20 percent broke off between 3rd rotation and burnout. Trail of fire was 100-120ft.

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 2s
Length 99.99°
Remarks Train trail was 100-120 feet in length. Object itself was large. The size of a car, possibly bigger. As the object was close to burning out and out of view, I saw 3 fire cones rotating behind it, counterclock wise. 2-3 rotations. Pieces were breaking off towards the end. Completely quiet. No sound minus the sizzle/crackling. Had a crystal clear view. Flew for 6-7 seconds. I was in the backyard. Phone was in the house charging. Otherwise I would've captured great video, I just didn't have it with me at the time.
Terminal flash
Observation No
Remarks -
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
Remarks Pieces broke off throughout the duration of flight time.
