Remarks What an awesome sight it was! Took me quite by surprise but how fortunate that I was looking in the exact right direction at the exact right time to see the entire event! This is my 4th big meteor sighting, and the second most spectacular one, the first one will never be out-done as it flew 100 feet over my head and landed 300 yards away from me! It dug a BIG hole in a corn field. This took place in Summer of approx 1977-78 and the meteor landed in a field (now a public park) called Minto-Brown park West of Salem Oregon. My friend and I went out there the following day and found the hole, it was about 10 feet in diameter and about 5 feet deep, we could not find the "rock" that made the hole. It mat well still be there!

Remarks The leading edge (tip) of this was pure white, a very green ball was just behind the leading edge and was quite big around, I'd guess about 20 times larger than the white leading edge, just behind the green ball were white to light yellow "sparks" flying off the main ball and took several seconds to disappear, some larger "sparks" took longer to go out. But the entire tail was VERY long!

Remarks I guess I described this above with the glowing train. I did not notice any smoke.
