Remarks I could only see one other star in the sky after it happened (so perhaps it was really a planet) but the fireball must have been very bright to look like the brightest shooting star I've ever seen to see it when no other stars were visible.

Remarks It started as a thin white streak I thought was a simple shooting star, but halfway through its path, it got much brighter and accelerated and then flashed even brighter at its terminus with orange at the center of the flash.
