I saw this from inside my RV out the front window, through trees. It wasn't a large fireball, but it was bright enough, long-enough w/tail, that it caught my eye while working on the computer! Very low in the sky to the NNE, seen through desert trees here out boon-docking at La Posa South, Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) on BLM land S.E. of Quartzsite, AZ. I've seen more than a dozen fireballs over the years, having reported perhaps no less than 5 or 6 here. Since I wasn't outside, I certainly didn't get the best look--though I've seen VERY LARGE fireballs from indoors previously, as reported on this site from Bozeman, MT--and it's possible (?) that this was just a VERY bright, long meteor. Again, it wasn't large--less than pinky fingernail at arms-length--but still quite noticeable (i.e., I don't see many "shooting stars" out my windows, even during the more significant meteor showers (which I watch actively). I thought I should log this, in case OTHERS saw the same, but also saw more of it! RF |
