Reports Report 1553e (Event 1553-2012)

Observer
Name Chris
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks This was the first fireball I have ever experienced, and it was an amazing sight. Initial white/green streak followed by an incredibly bright, silent flare that lit up everything around, and ending in a glowing orange trail that slowly fell to the ground, fading as it did. Left me speechless when it happened, that\'s how impressive it was.

Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 90s
Length -1°
Remarks It started out as a bright orange trail slowly falling towards the ground. Due to wind conditions it drifted as it fell, and eventually ending up making a backwards c-shape down through the atmosphere before finally fading out entirely. http://www.flickr.com/photos/t1g4h/8102193778/ You can see a photo of it there, in the middle/upper left of the photo. This was a 30 second exposure and it was right after the initial fireball.
Terminal flash
Observation Yes
Remarks The flash was a bright, bright shade of white/green. It was bright enough to light up the entire night sky and all of my surroundings, and was perfectly silent. Definitely brighter than the moon, but I\'m not sure if I\'d say it was bright as the sun. Very impressive flare though.
Fragmentation
Observation No
