These are estimates.I have seen many meteors in the desert south west. This was the brightest and most colorful BY FAR.If you were looking ANYWHERE in the sky,you would turn your head and say \"What the hell was that?\"
I thought I heard a medium loud \"Boom\" about 7 to 10 seconds after loosing sight of it.I am an extremely amateur star gazer but from what I\'ve read,I believe there should be some to many pieces on the ground.I also know this is
extremely rare situation. This was very large and very long and very colorful.Looking north from my location,it seemed to come from the North-East to South-West at a rather steep angle.I only saw about 50%-60% of it\'s decent.
I\'m 67 years old and I feel this is BY FAR the largest, most colorful meteor I\'ve ever seen.It\'s the kind of sky event I fully expect to hear about in the national news tomorrow.I live near the city with a fair amount of light pollution.I used to
live on a mountain overlooking Las Vegas and I know if I were anywhere outside I would have seen this very brightly without a doubt.Using DeLorme Topo9 my location is N38 20.4883\' / W81 39.2059\' / Elevation = 945 Feet..
This has greatly impacted me.This is my 1st time reporting a sky event.I hope I haven\'t wasted your time and I hope someone finds a piece of this mother.Just a thought,With all the color this might be man made,ie satellite I hope it
wasn\'t a piece of the 1st commercial space station re-supply rocket. |
