Reports Report 1224ab (Event 1224-2012)

Observer
Name Kathy J
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks This was an amazing sight: bright glowing neon green -- the largest meteor I've EVER seen! In the Perseus or Leonid meteor shower, if one appears as the size of a BB, this one would have been like a tennis ball. Or, for another example: at arms length, make the size of a ping-pong or golf ball with your fingers: it was THAT HUGE! The tail following was the width of widest stretch of index finger to thumb at arms length. What bothered me, is that I contacted two TV stations and a radio station the next day, and asked everyone I encountered if they saw it --- NO ONE DID, with the exception of my next door neighbor, who was also sitting on the porch. Was later pleased to find other sightings in Asheville and surrounding states!!
