| Remarks | When I first saw the meteor, I was driving in my car near the top of a fairly tall hill on a very straight stretch of road. I was lucky enough to have a good view of the horizon above the treeline initially. I'm not sure how much going down the hill affected my perception of the meteor's descent, but it seemed to fall directly ahead in the clearing of the road. So, trees didn't block it until it got very low on the horizon. This was my first fireball sighting. The descent appeared to be nearly vertical, maybe a small angle from vertical. I looked large enough to be a good sized plane (and I live close enough the RDU to see a lot of planes go over). But then I realize tha the light wasn't bright enough or sharp enough in one spot to be a plane. |

| Persistent train | |

| Observation | No |
| Duration | -1s |
| Length | 40° |
| Remarks | This was my first fireball sighting. The train seemed to fade in and out and back in again with the meteor, so probably not persistent. |
| Terminal flash | |
|---|---|
| Observation | Unknown |
| Remarks | The first ball seemed to start from nothing and glow brighter, then faded like it was dying about half way down the horizon, then glowed brighter again. it kept glowing as it went down behind the tree line. So, I\'m not sure if it flashed. |
