Reports Report 1103i (Event 1103-2012)

Observer
Name Tony M
Experience Level 3/5
Remarks I'm an old pilot, and would estimate the cloud ceiling at 40 to 50 thousand feet. The fireball appeared to be just over or in the cloud cover which may have enhanced the size by light refraction. My wife and I expected to read about an impact area in Canada or SE Alaska. The glow made it appear the size of a large full moon. The first thought was that this was huge, possibly the size of a bus. I did expect to see more degredation than I saw, but because it was so low and had cloud distortion I may have missed a lot. It was indeed eerie and spectacular. If just an ice ball it may have fragmented completely.
