Extremely bright burst of light followed by a long glowing trail that started off greenish glowed white for 15-20 seconds and then slowly faded away.

I was not looking at the sky when the explosion occurred but the whole sky lit up extremely white and bright for a moment then I turned to look out over the porch and saw the very long trail glowing straight across the sky.
