Remarks I was in my car, just after 8:40 PM Aug 1, 2012, a fairly clear evening, not completely dark yet. I was facing N, stopped at the intersection (waiting to turn L on Golf Rd) & saw the fireball pass directly overhead, seemingly descending at a very shallow angle. It was considerably brighter than Venus at its brightest. Only saw it for 2-3 sec, because it didn\'t appear till it was \"below\" the upper margin of my car\'s windshield, and disappeared behind large trees in front of me, though I could still see it partially thru the leaves & branches of the trees for a while longer till it then disappeared behind houses. I would estimate it was traveling more or less straight South to North. I did not notice a trail behind it, and it basically was just a very bright white, no discernible color. I have seem meteors with red or green or yellow colors & trails, so I\'m familiar with the phenomenon. I\'m an amateur astronomer, own a modest telescope & regularly view Saturn, Jupiter & other planets & always try to catch especially the Perseids meteor shower in Aug.
