First there was a very bright, red flash with intermittent dim white flashes. Finally there was a much dimmer red flash.

It looked like intermittent flashes. At first I thought it was a passing airplane with a flashing tail light, then it ended with a secondary less intense red flash. The entire episode from start to finish was less than one minute.
