Remarks | I was on Redcloud Peak (14,000 feet) in SW Colorado looking ENE when out of the atmosphere came a meteorite or space junk (coming N to S). It was large and on fire with a very long white smoke tail. Just before reaching earth, it appeared to vaporize (bright flash) and I did not see any evidence of the object reaching earth (although it was very close to the peaks in the area). I was concerned about the possibility of more fires. I may be wrong, but the object appeared to be silver which led me to believe it was space junk burning up instead of a meteorite shower. |
