Reports Report 793s (Event 793-2012)

Observer
Name Shawn M
Experience Level 4/5
Remarks It was still visible in the sky when it disappeared below my house\'s roof-line to the west. At that time the objects relative brightness seemed to be diminishing, although a large part of this was probably due to OK City skyglow as well as thin clouds to the west.

Remarks -
Delayed Sound
Observation No
Remarks I was amazed that I didn\'t hear anything, because optically it seemed pretty close, but it did not appear to be moving \"really\" fast. As a retired USAF pilot my guess on its speed appeared subsonic, based on no sonic boom and the rate at which is passed and illuminated nearby stratus and cumulus clouds .
Persistent train
Observation Yes
Duration 2.5s
Length 12.5°
Remarks Classic looking smoke/vapor trail \"leading\" edge illuminated by fireball
Terminal flash
Observation Unknown
Remarks Approximately halfway through the witnessed flight path fireball flashed and multiple (perhaps 4 to 8) small same colored fragments (green) dispersed away from the fireball which seemed to vanish. It was enough time for me to think that it \"blew up\" only to be surprised to see the \"main\" fireball reignite and continue on its path. There was definitely no smoke/vapor trail during the fragmentation to relight period
Fragmentation
Observation Yes
