it was about half as high as the planes that fly over here on their way to the airport (ONT). It was much faster than a plane; more like the speed of fireworks. It was a single bright light going left to right parallel to the horizon at first; with a very slightly curved (downward) trajectory. I noticed the curve about the same time I saw the wisp of smoke out the back. Then it was gone- I didn't see where it went- it seemed to disappear behind the trees and buildings. It was low enough that when it disappeared, I halfway; expected to see/hear some kind of explosion; but there was none.
